Getting Started with Privacy Guard

Looking to automatically remove Personally Identifiable Information (PII) before it’s sent to your Google Analytics property, for better security and compliance?

ExactMetrics makes this easy with Privacy Guard. Follow this guide to learn more.

Prerequisites:

  1. You’re an ExactMetrics Plus user or higher.
  2. Your ExactMetrics is installed and activated.
  3. Google Analytics is already authenticated on your website.
  4. Please also review the legal disclaimer at the end of the guide.

ExactMetrics makes it easy to safeguard user information by automatically stripping out potential PII from a URL or a form submission, before data is sent to Google Analytics.

To enable Privacy Guard, simply go to ExactMetrics » Settings » Engagement » Privacy Guard to turn the option on.

ExactMetrics will automatically detect sensitive information such as:

  • Full names
  • Usernames
  • Email Addresses
  • Physical Addresses
  • Longitude and Latitude

Preventing this information from being tracked helps with the protection of user data.
